Dulverton Garden Planting Scheme

This project included two large beds.

The first, this south facing, raised border next to the pool was for a red and blue colour scheme with a lavender hedge at the front. Used mostly in the summer months for swimming, entertaining and BBQs the planting design was created to provide peak interest during these months.

Plants used include Geum Mrs Bradshaw, Oriental Poppies, Salvias including ‘Jezebel’ and ‘Royal Bumble’, Agapanthus, Monkshood ( Aconitum) and Helenium ‘Sahin’s Early Flowerer’.

The second bed opposite is north facing, mostly in shade; the brief was unspecified for this bed.

Plants have been selected to create a tapestry of foliage punctuated with flowers throughout the year including Brunnera macrophylla, Euphorbias, Tiarella, Saxifraga and Hostas. Akebia quinata was planted to cloak the wall behind whilst Rosa rugosa ‘Roserai de l’Hay’ adds height and colour to the border.
